Done!
I am officially DONE with school…wOOt!
…where I discuss school, web design(although current design, not mine)… and stuff in general
Well, I’m 2 weeks from graduation (!).. exciting and scary all at the same time. Will I actually be able to get a job in my field? will I be able to successfully launch a web design business? who knows… Read the rest of this entry »
and it was good! Everything was marked ‘exceeds expectations’ except one… and I will admit that when he got to that one, which was ‘meets expectations’, I felt a little deflated.
But it was all good!
Hopefully they are hiring in September.
I’m tired… here we are at the almost half-way point in this last semester and I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished anything. My internship has stalled a bit, but I have told the people at Hope that I intend to see this website project to the end. They deserve a nice, well functioning website that’s easy for the office staff to update.
We had a gal from a temp agency come and talk to our internship class last week and I need to send her my resume. I think doing temp work might be right up my alley. We’ll see what happens, all I know is I’m getting nervous that after all this schooling I won’t be able to get a job…. and I still would like to get 2 paying freelance gigs by the end of the year… that’s looking rather slim.
I’m working at my internship site, great place…fingers crossed they are hiring in September and realize they can’t possibly do without me.
Anyway, today was a trying day. One of those days where, try as I might, I can’t understand what I’m actually supposed to do. I asked.twice….actually 3 times and still don’t quite understand what I’m supposed to be doing next. So I’m going to just carry on making the website as I normally would. Making images, and slicing the photoshop mock-up and plugging it all into Dreamweaver and go from there.
See we are eventually going to make a CMS for this website, but I don’t know how to do that and don’t really know if there is anything I need to do differently from the outset. Eventually there will be css and php controlling the look and feel and dynamic content of the site. Here’s what they guys told me to do: ‘What I would do now is formalize all of you styles and web standards. Things like body copy, lists, headlines, captions, etc. That will help in the development of the cms, as well as provide a guide for future users. Also, creating some layout templates/guides will help as the site grows. So maybe one layout that can handle content with photos, another that is all text.’
Quoi?
Do they want me to make blank templates in Dreamweaver? Whenever I make a site I do a ‘template’ of sorts of the basic structure of the page, the bones if you will so that all pages will have the same look and feel without much shifting (I hate it when you switch from page to page and there is a subtle shift…makes me crazy but sometimes not easy to get around…still, crazy making!)
It’s one of those days where terminology is tripping me up…oh, and my being a control freak kicks in…’Whadya mean future users?’
Well… time to watch Ghost Hunters… and work on something fun for an hour or so..
