Dead…

My precious laptop is dead…
This afternoon will be spent trying to recover whatever files I can, fortunately I uploaded the internship site I was working on to my hosting site so I can at least recover that… but all the original files are gone, I don’t have photoshop, or dreamweaver on the pc.  Ugh, this bites!

I spent the better part of 6 hours yesterday working on my internship stuff and it’s all gone now.  Of course I didn’t back everything up, but it wouldn’t have helped with the stuff I was working on yesterday.. and that’s the stuff I’m most pissed off about.

Oh, well, what’s done is done… time to head off to school and then this afternoon try and figure out what I’m going to do.  My first stop will be the apple store and see how much this is going to cost to get it back up and running.

So, yes….

I’m tired… here we are at the almost half-way point in this last semester and I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished anything.  My internship has stalled a bit, but I have told the people at Hope that I intend to see this website project to the end.  They deserve a nice, well functioning website that’s easy for the office staff to update.

We had a gal from a temp agency come and talk to our internship class last week and I need to send her my resume.  I think doing temp work might be right up my alley.  We’ll see what happens, all I know is I’m getting nervous that after all this schooling I won’t be able to get a job…. and I still would like to get 2 paying freelance gigs by the end of the year… that’s looking rather slim.

Finished!

The re-design competition for school.  Gallaxy Communications Redesign  Here is a screenshot of the original site:

It may load slow, and I haven’t actually tested it in Explorer yet so it may just look like a pile of crap.

Even if I don’t win (but fingers crossed that I do, people)… I am pleased with the design and it stretched what I know how to do.  It’s done entirely in photoshop and image ready.  I’ve never used those programs for a design before.  Also not sure if I uploaded it correctly, I didn’t put into Dreamweaver, just exported the html file from image ready.  I also don’t know, yet, how to integrate the design using css.

So, yes… at least it’s done.  Onward to other stuff.

As per usual… undecided and in flux…

So, I thought this blog might be connected to my new domain/portfolio site but thought different of it so another name change…   I’ll still be mainly be talking about design stuff,like this:

Ok…so this doesn’t actually count as design stuff but I am freaking out a bit about my internship.  I haven’t had 2 minutes during the day to do any sort of forward research on possible places much less any phone calling.  By April I need to secure an unpaid internship consisting of 90 hours over 15 weeks.  One guy in my class last semester actually got one where he telecommuted. sweet!

In usability class we are doing a real re-design job for a real company with a real existing website.  The company has worked out something with my instructor whereby everyone in his classes is to come up with a design concept and they will pick the one they like the best.  That person will work with the company in re-designing their site and could possibly win a laptop!  I’m so excited about this, and I think my design concept is a good one.  It does stretch my abilities a bit but I need to expand my design concepts.

So, that’s it…

Caffeine…anyone? anyone?

If any of my loyal readers sees me on the internet and I’m not doing my actual homework (right now excepted) please kick me squarely in the ass. I was up until 1:30 this morning finishing up my project I started last Wednesday when it was assigned… and now I’ve got 3 more, involved, assignements due on Wednesday. Then mid-terms are fast approaching, although I think we are only actually having a test in one class.

so…now I’m off to work on this assignment that requires internet research.

Oh…and if I actually start babbling about taking 4 classes next semester instead of 3 someone please organize an intervention…

Oh…part deux… My Chemical Romance: The Black Parade totally rocks!
