New semester underway…
So, I’m officially in week 3(!) of my new semester. This one is going to be challenging in that I’m taking 3 classes that I’m not that keen on… gen ed stuff.
First off, my usability class will be fun and challenging. We are taking some templates and re-making them in Photoshop, then optimizing them in Image Ready for output. The actual layouts of the templates we are to choose from aren’t that challenging, pretty basic layout…so I’m going to choose mine based on what Photoshop images would be most challenging for me to re-create.
Math so far has been alright, my instructor makes each math problem seem like a magic trick. He starts every problem with ‘Watch this!’. fun!
Writing for business…tricky…working in a group setting. Not my strong suit, I’m rather a lone wolf. But we are doing all projects in class so it shouldn’t be that bad.
Now we get to the nitty-gritty… Career management. sigh. We need to secure our internships this semester. Interviewing, resume writing, cover letters…etc. But again, the instructors don’t want to see us fail so they are pretty good with helping us get it right. So we need to research 3 possible internship sites and produce an essay on one. My program is relatively new in the school so the choices of possible places that have agreed to interns in the past is small. So I’m going to choose from one of those and try to secure 2 other possibilities on my own. We need to call those places and ask some questions… I will get through this, although it’s definitely not my strong suit.
Goals in the next 2 weeks: solidify my physical portfolio, finish my on-line portfolio site
